Pastels 2012

I could not be happier to hear and read that this years spring season will bring out my most favourite trends. PASTELS! I adore pastels and cant wait to get my hands on some. The first item on my list is a dress from My Sunday Feeling that we will be stocking more of in the next 2 weeks. I cannot wait.

Cant you just picture yourself twirling around in the afternoon sun with a cold beverage in hand? I can!

Do you have some links to online stores or lookbooks about pastel trends this year? Please share :)

Bettie Page

(Rose wears black and white Brigit Dress, Vintage inspired cat eye glasses. Emily wears red Alika dress also available in black and green. Photos: Claire Hewson Location:Huskisson Carnival)

Another brand proving to be very popular over the last 2 weeks of it arriving is our select range of Bettie Page dresses.
The Bettie Page line presents the look of long skirts – either pencil or circle, punctuated with the feminine touches of bows, frills, pleats belts and buttons. The dresses hearken back to the America of the 1950s but are made with modern technology, modern fabrics (usually stretch) and a modern flair. The nature of the dresses appeal to all demographics.Young people like the dresses because they are unusual and a “little crazy” so they can stand out in a crowd.  Middle aged clients enjoy the elegance and “mystery” the dresses convey.  Moreover, the older generation appreciates the nostalgia which reminds them of their youth.

These 2 dresses are only the tip of the ice burg of styles we have in store that will soon be available to buy online. If only i could decide which one to keep for myself!?

My Sunday Feeling

Models: Rose & Emily. Photos: Claire Hewson. Shot: Huskisson Carnival

Here at CLV there has been alot of talk as to which direction we want to go next.
One of those directions is introducing more vintage inspired and handmade garments from designers such as My Sunday Feeling.

"This special little label is about being free and expressing memories and feelings through fashion to create a nostalgic wearable charm, almost like a walking music box playing your favourite tunes.

Designer, Melody Jasmine hails from Byron Bay and is a self confessed sentimentalist who enjoys surfing, craft markets, sharing smiles and drinking coffee all day long.

The My Sunday Feeling label is based around 60's & 70's esque homegrown craft work techniques with some romantic folklore & hillbilly holly thrown in. Patchwork variations, ruffles & hearts all feature heavily alongside intricately embellished bodices. Melody dedicates hours of handi-work to each garment, creating a truly unique piece of art. But despite the delicate florals, sweet ruffles & wholesome handmade goodness, the label isn't all daisies and sunshine, certainly not fit for 'your Sunday best' with enough sheer fabrics and leather detailing to make your Nana blush a bit....."

Vintage Wedding pictures: The canvas worthy ones

There are many photos from our wedding day that are canvas worthy and it will be a very difficult choice.
Which one would you put on a canvas? Sam and i think it could be the last one on the mossy green rocks.

All photos are thanks to Matt from Evoke Images. The best photographer on the south coast!

FIRST DANCE

Our first dance song was Samson by Regina Spektor

Looking at these picture in my quite time alone I definatly realised more then ever that Sam is always been the playful and outgoing one in our relationship. He without a doubt makes me smile and laugh every day.
From first impressions of me i seem to strangers as off standish and unhappy but really deep down I'm the total opposite. There are so many more pictures i could upload but i feel as though overkilling it.
So in saying that i will finish off my wedding post with the most memorable and canvas worthy pictures tomorrow night.
I hope you have enjoyed looking into my world on one of the most special days of my life.

The Ceremony

The pictures pretty much say it all in this post. I hope you enjoy them as much as i do. For 2 weeks before the wedding the weather was horrible. Cold, wet and miserable actually. I think i checked the weather channel a thousand times. Sam and i slept apart the night before the big day so needless to say i didn't sleep that well. After listening to the waves on the beach until finally dozing off i woke up at 5.30 am to what looked to be a crappy overcast day. At 10am, one hour before the ceremony the clouds dispersed and the sun shone down on the most amazing beach in Jervis Bay. The beach which is called Hyams has some of the whitest sand in the world. I can tell you from the faces of the all of us including the guests it was extremely bright. But it definatly suited the atmosphere and occasion.

Me and my Bridesmaids

From left to right: Bianca, Yaz, Me, Sab(chief bm) & my sister Carly

So I have uploaded some of the many beautiful photos we have of my bridesmaids and myself.
How quickly the time came that morning to get ready and take some snaps before the ceremony.
I can sense the excitement in the last 3 photos because that was just before we made our way down to the beach. If we hadn't had the blinds shut the boys could have seen us standing inside the house.
I have to admit i saw the reflections in the many windows of the men walking down the side of the house. I tried not to look but my curiosity got the better of me.

The bridesmaid dresses arrive one week before the wedding which added to my anxiety levels. If you haven't checked out fabled and true yet i suggest you do. Their designs and choices of vintage/vintage inspired fabric are gorgeous. I gathered the measurements of my girls, told Jaye what style and she did her best to get them to me on time. I added the ribbon around the waist for a little extra detail.

For the bouquets i chose pink and white peonies, David Austin roses and a hint of babies breath.
The babies breath especially cute so i decided to add them to some randomly places vases around the house. Some of which are now drying hanging from my lounge room window.

Once again you can see that my 1958 vintage dress was very special, with its hint of pink taffeta underlay covered by the stunning but very delicate white lace and tulle that took me almost all of Thursday before the wedding to sew up holes around the hem.
It was after all the 3rd time it as being worn so you can imagine the damage.
It was oh so worth the stress!

Next up are photos of our ceremony.
